LOCATION
Relais Piazza San Marco boasts an exclusive position compared to all the other inns in Venice: in Piazza San Marco, a real open air museum where spectacular works of art are housed.
On one side, this prestigious, luxurious structure looks out over the splendid Basilica of San Marco, a Byzantine style work of art which the Venetians enriched over the centuries with valuable works of art, artifacts and materials imported from distant lands, and on the other it overlooks the Mercerie.
This very old street was once full of luxurious shops where Venetian merchants displayed valuable material from the East and valuable glass objects from Murano.
Today, the Mercerie is host to the most important designer boutiques, from Rolex to Cartier, from Gucci to Krizia, from Bally to Sergio Rossi.
A few minutes away from the Relais Piazza San Marco is the Grand Theatre La Fenice, restored to its former glory after the terrible fire, the spectacular Rialto Bridge, one of the symbols of Venice and, on the Riva degli Schiavoni, the legendary Bridge of Sighs.
Among the luxurious inns in Venice, Relais Piazza San Marco is the best base from which to visit Venice, starting right at the heart of the action: all the most culturally and artistically interesting places are close at hand, easily reached on foot or using the vaporettos whose stops are very close to the inn.
